Are you a recent grad? GlobeCampus has a new network group for you.

One of the most difficult hurdles to a new graduate's career is often the lack of a professional network. The Globe and Mail's GlobeCampus New Grad Network puts each member in contact with thousands of professionals throughout dozens of industries. As well, through the Globe and Mail's GlobeCareers, you will gain access to weekly career advice and job opportunities.

If you've graduated from a Canadian College or University in the past two years, you can set up your profile. Note: you must fill in your education section completely in order to be accepted. Only graduates of Canadian institutions will be accepted. Please allow a few days for review and acceptance of your application.

To join:

1. Go to LinkedIn.com and set up a profile, if you don't already have one.

Tip: Your LinkedIn profile is an interactive business card. Use it to describe your summer jobs, internships, volunteer positions, or personal passions. LinkedIn says a fully filled out profile is 40 times more likely to get seen by employers, and increases your chances for an employment offer. You can see examples here.

2. Get connected. Find and join the New Grad Network. (Type "GlobeCampus" (*one* word) in the search box. When you've found the group, click on "Join this group." Check the appropriate fields and click on the "Join Group" button.)

Tip: You can also link with friends and family if they're on LinkedIn: Do they work someplace interesting? Did they start their own business?

Tip: You can also find alumni from your school, if they have a LinkedIn presence. What to ask: Trends in their industry, the companies they most respect, and how they prepared themselves to succeed.

Good luck with your career!
